The Wilberforce Centre Opens Its Doors.
September 2008
The new Wilberforce Centre, at St Paul’s Church, Mill Hill, recently opened its doors for the first time following a three year development project to restore the church and create new community facilities in the crypt. The Wilberforce Centre will be used by the church as well as offering space to community groups and organisations for regular meetings and events. The Mill Hill Historical Society, Good Neighbours Scheme and the Circassian Circle Folk Dance are the first groups to book regular events at the venue which we hope will become an integral part of community life in Mill Hill.

The Wilberforce Centre, named after the great social reformer William Wilberforce who built the church, will also be used for regular exhibitions and events connected to Wilberforce, the anti slavery campaign and modern day trafficking. Dr Michael Worms, Church Archivist, has noted that “it is important that we should recognise in this church, Wilberforce and the anti slavery campaigners and open our doors to school and community groups who want to explore the heritage of the church and it founder.”
For those wishing to visit St Paul’s, the church is open mornings on Saturdays 10am – 12noon. Admission is free.
